Buying battery grip post re-call.

I've owned a Canon 20D for two years now and am slowly learning how to use it. I want to upgrade to the battery grip which was mentioned to be a part of a recall. I noticed the question was posted in 2006, so does this mean since they noticed the problem this would be less likely to happen? This might be a dumb question, but this equipment is so expensive and I'm extremely green to all of this information.

Thank you very much for your time.

Canon posts service advisories on their website. If it's subject to a recall, you can find the advisory which will give you options there. Just click on support for digital cameras and choose from the pull down menu. You will then see a box that says "click for digital advisories."

As for getting them post recall, you could try eBay ...

Alex,

The only Canon SLR battery recall I can find is this one, which isn't a recall at all, but a warning against counterfeit batteries. Do you have a link to the recall you had in mind?

Thanks.

No. I was merely stating that if there was one, it would be listed there under the service advisories. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Oh, I wasn't prodding you there, James. I was curious as to whether Alex had a link to the original thing where Canon "noticed" the problem. Wasn't sure if there was an older recall or what... I might have just entirely misread his post. :]

No worries, Ben. All I know is that I didn't see one.
