reddish color tone on indoor photos

Many of my photos taken indoors with flash have a reddish tone. How can I prevent this and get photos with more natural tone without the need to adjust them with photoshop

Can you post an example, so I can see what's going on? All I can think of for right now is that the lighting conditions (white light, tungsten, etc) may require you to manually correct the white balance. Doesn't the EOS 30D have a preset for different lighting conditions? Try the Tungsten or Flourescent (3200K and 4000K, respectively)... if you're not happy with that, try shifting the WB away from Magenta and a step or two closer to green.

I'm thinking your white balance is off. Try resetting the camera first. This is a fairly easy procedure which involves either going into your setup menu and choosing "reset," holding down the menu key for 5 seconds, or, removing the batteries for a few minutes. It may be that the firmware loading got corrupted and the camera just needs to be "rebooted," which is something that turning it on/off won't accomplish. But after which, you should have the camera reset to factory default settings.

I'd also set your white balance to indoors when you're indoors. You can also adjust your White Balance by holding a piece of white paper in front of the lens in a well lit area and then using the camera's white balance setup utility.

Another tip is to go to Canon's website and look for firmware updates. Download and install them.
