I'm an orthodontist and bought the 30D for intraoral photography but I can't seem to get the best settings for my photos. Can anyone help? I need to

If your photos are too dark at the place you want to document, then you may need to get a circular flash. These connect right on the external flash shoe and light the oral cavity quite evenly by being physically located AROUND the lens. That way you are viewing your subject right through the middle of the lens AND the flash. Worked great for me though I was using film "back in the day". I'm retired now. Should work just the same with digital I would think.

Here's an example I found at B&H Photo. It's not exactly like mine was in that it appears to not connect directly to the shoe, but you can get the idea and ask your camera store what to get for your model camera. Good Luck, Larry

I would also suggest investing in a low length macro lens. This will allow for focusing from small distances, and as larry said, a circular flash will give you even illumination.
