Pentax K to Canon EOS lens adapter?

I see these on eBay. Are they safe to use on a Canon EOS camera with my old Pentax K mount lenses? I am concerned that they may "fry" the electronics or something. The forums don't say anything about it, but indicate they are hard to remove from the camera. Thanks for any input about this.

I wouldn't do it. First off, you'd lose most, if not all your auto features. Secondly, you'll lose 1-2 stops of light, meaning your lens will be slower which won't help in low light, and adapters do cause clarity issues as well. In the end, you're better off just selling it on eBay and devote the money to getting a dedicated lens.

Thanks for your answer. The adapters I saw on eBay are listed as "AF-Confirm Pentax K to EOS Lens Adapters" if you want to search and see them. They do have electronic contacts like the Canon lenses do. I am just concerned that there may be some way that it could short-circuit or cause damage to my camera. I don't want to send my 40D back for repairs. The blogs I have read say the adapters are very hard to remove from the camera. I would like to hear all the pros and cons before I bought one. Thanks again for taking time to advise me.

Well, since you're looking on eBay, why don't you go the other route? SELL your lenses on eBay and use the money you raise to get the proper lenses for your camera. In a pre eBay world, using adapters may have been a legitimate option, but that's largely because it was just plain easier. Now, with eBay, we can off load the equipment we don't need and use that cash to get the equipment we do! It's much better than trying to force and issue or use adapters that will give you so-so results for the risk.

I would have to say that your answer is probably the best advice. I guess I just hated to "waste" those great, crisp lenses. But I don't want to compromise the quality of the electronics in my new DSLR camera either, so as much as I would like to use my older lenses, I'll be going the route you suggested. I just needed someone to point out the best way to go. Thanks for taking the time to advise. It was a very helpful answer.
