Back light is best handled by not being in that situation. Always try and shoot with the sun over your shoulder, not into the camera. If that isn't possible, then use a flash, even in daylight, to illuminate your subject. You can also use a bounce card, if you have a friend, who can bounce the light back from the backlight and onto the subject.
This is much better than over relying on a preset which may or may not properly address the situation you're facing.
