If I buy a Canon A1000 IS will I be able to use the MMC/SD card from my 5yr old Kodak in the Canon?

The SD card for the Canon looks the same from, a distance, as the 64MB card in my Kodak.

Yes, you can use any SD card in the A1000, but remember with the increased megapixels in the pictures you'll need much more than 64MB of memory. I wouldn't consider less than a 1GB card, and 2GB is the sweet spot in pricing these days. A 2GB card will allow you to take about 350-400 pictures, or about 20 minutes of video. The newer SD cards are also a bit faster in writing and reading, so it would be best to look at a new card when purchasing a new camera both for size and for speed. But yes, the old 64MB card will work, it will just hold a dozen or so pictures at full resolution.
