Canon A1000 IS or A1100 IS is better?

Has Canon A1000 IS has been discontinued? What was the reason? Also howz the performance of A1100 IS. When I checked with some shops A1000 IS is available. Do I want to go for A1000 IS or A1100 IS. Please give me the answer.. Thanks in advance..

They're nearly identical, probably the only difference would be a slight chance in lens focal length, or even that the A1100 is just and updated model. Things advance, and Moore's law is constantly in play.

Here's what I suggest - First thing I would do is go to the Canon site for either camera. In the upper right hand corner you'll see a button for "choose the right product." Then, click on "product comparison." A popup window will let you compare up to three cameras for features. This will give you a chance to compare them side by side to see the differences, and more importantly, the similarities.

Next, check out this resource. It takes pictures with each and you can compare them side by side.

The bottom line though, is that with the exception of subtle differences, they are essentially the same camera because they're from the same A line.
