white in front of picture

normal picture before you take it then its white in front of picture after taken

Is it possible that your white balance is off or that you have your flash on in already bright areas, or is there anything on your lens? More info is needed to analyse this issue.

Have tried to set white balance manually but it makes no difference. Flash is off. Reset all parameters back to default settings but still the same result. Picture is too bright, almost illegible, and there appears to be lines across the picture.

Actually this sounds like a defective CCD imager. The A300 and A310 are notorious for this failure. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. I have both of these models (sorry, but I still like them :), but both have been repaired for free this way.
