My canon powershot A300 is about 3 years old. It is so slow taking a picture. What is the problem?

you have to hold down the button so long before it takes a picture

Hi Geralyn,

Has the camera gotten slower over time? There's no reason I can think of for it to do that, except for some bizarre kind of mechanical failure or pehaps rechargeable batteries that aren't maintaining the voltage they used to. Are you shooting with flash or without? The flash on older Canon models (and even some newer ones) can take a long time to recharge. If you can provide any more information on how the camera is behaving it would be most useful. Thanks!

If you press the button half way down, it focuses. you press it again and it shoots. The camera has always been slow. If you change the resolution to something other than 3MP it shoots very fast. The camera is just slow!!
