My Mac won't recognize my new Canon A460! Incompatible?!?

Only after purchasing the A460, did I realize that it's not on Apple's extensive list of supported cameras. Rather than install Canon's ImageBrowser software, I'd prefer to keep using iPhoto, but it clearly does not recognize this camera. I read elsewhere that a PC user skirted a similar problem by connecting to a memory card reader instead of their camera and then their photo application could recognize that. Are there similar tricks available to us Mac users? Or must I return the camera and find a compatible one? Thanks in advance for any advice!

Absolutely. That's the easiest and best way to get your pictures off your camera. A Memory card reader. Even for a PC I would recommend that over the crummy PC drivers that most digital still cameras come with. Just get a USB memory card reader and plug it into your mac. The Mac will mount the card as a drive and you're good to go.

Hey, great news! Thanks for the advice. Forgive my ignorance, but where would you recommend that I purchase such a device (and are there different types/sizes?).

Pretty much any electronics store or computer store should have it. Best Buy, Circuit City, etc. Amazon is a good source.
