What batteries does Canon A470 use? Your site says li-ion but the canon site says AA alkaline. Why so? Will it include a charger?

All of Canon A series cameras use AA batteries and I would recommend using NickelMetalHydride (NiMH) rechargeables. Buy at least a set of 4 batteries and a good charger. Look for mAh (milliAmp hours) rating of around 2500 for plenty of staying power. When the batteries get where they don't last as long as you need (1-2 years), recycle them and buy more. They don't cost much. There are even some NiMH sets that hold their charge longer on the shelf now (useful especially if you are someone who lets your camera sit around a long time between uses. NOT ME!).
This web site is definitely incorrect listing lithium-ion battery for this camera. This camera needs NiMH for best operation and it can use regular AA alkaline batteries, too.

If the web site has incorrect info about the batteries, how can we trust anything else reported here? I looked for more info on this camera precisely because of the report that it used a lithium-ion battery. I am disappointed.

Neil,
Every site makes mistakes. If you want a site with a load of mistakes, try dpreview.com. I have even emailed corrections to them and get no change and no response. Oh well.
I even caught Canon in a mistake on their own website once.
You must always be like an investigative reporter and confirm the information.
And, yes, I agree with you, it IS disappointing.
