Canon A540 - No memory card problem

I turned my A540 on yesterday and it comes up telling me there is no memory card. This is not a new card because I taken over 50 pictures with it prior to this error coming up. I took out the card and replaced it to no avail. I tried another card I know that worked before, but it did not work either. Can anybody help me?

Thanks

Try taking out the batteries for 5 minutes, then putting them back in and turning on the camera. If this doesn't work, visit the Canon site and try updating the firmware for the camera, which should reset the software within the camera to, hopefully, make it read the card. If neither of these solutions work, its probably a hardware problem, in which case you can get it repaired for free if its under warranty. If not, then the cost of repair of something like that is worth more than the camera, and its probably cheaper to get a new camera. Typically one of the first two solutions usually work.

Agreed. Reset the camera. Replace the batteries (underpowered or old batteries are often the culprit here) and get that firmware update. I'd also get any pictures you have off the camera with a USB card reader and then reformat the card. Just because the camera has trouble reading the card, doesn't mean it's a card issue, but it very well could be and be indicative of a larger issue.
