Return my new A570 IS?

My new A570IS has just started the low battery message mentioned by so many other users after just 30 pictures and brand new charged batteries. Should I exchange it (do most 570's have these problems) or am I better off upgrading to the the A590 IS? Does the 590 IS have the same battery issues as the 570IS? Is this problem really able to be fixed with a particular battery? I am still within the 14 day return period but need to make a decision quickly - Thanks!!!

That's probably because you're not using high energy batteries required by today's cameras. batteries with a higher mAh - like around 2500mAh would satisfy the higher power requirements of your camera. Additionally, for the best results, Canon recommend using rechargeable (NiMH) batteries. Alkalines will do in a pinch, but the capacity of Alkalines will differ from manufacturer.

Additionally, often, when you purchase batteries in bulk, it isn't uncommon that some or many of them are near dead or worse. Batteries bought in bulk tend to have a long turnover and such, can lose much of their battery power before they are used. And many batteries such as AAs are general purpose batteries and are not designed for the high energy use of digital cameras and the flashes they trigger. As such, I recommend using high energy batteries designed for digital photography. Varta is a good brand. They are usually sold in camera shops, are long lasting (because they are sold in small quantities) put out alot of energy.
