Audio on video clip is not in synch at 640x480. this is a new 570 I just bought

After lots f research and reading these posts, I took
a chance on the Canon 570 IS. I just my camera this week. Yes, I know about the infamous battery problem and the fixes, but I couldn't resist because of the value this digicam offers for the money. I took a short video at 640x480 30FPS. The video plays but the sound is not in sync. it lags, behind. What did I do wrong. I chose the 570 over the newer 590 because of the 30FPS at 640x480 res. I guess the newer one only does 20FPS.

Thanks

Mangler

When you say the audio is not in sync, do you mean that when you play it back on the camera it is not in sync, or when you play it back on the computer it is not in sync? Sometimes the review option on the camera is not all that great, so it won't be in sync. And if you're doing it on the computer, are you using Canon software to extract the video? It could be a problem with the program you're using to take the video off of the camera. Try giving us a little more detail about what exactly you're doing.

I downloaded the short AVI clip using Canon's software into a directory. I played it on several players, Win Media Player, Media Player classic and KMplayer which I feel is the best one. After carefully watching the video, it appears the sound is ahead of the video of the person talking and not the lagging behind. Either way it is defintely out of synch. This didn't happen with the first one I bought in the winter but returned due to poor battery life. This was before I read about the fixes here for that issue. Anyways, I am going to try a couple more AVI's and if the same issue arises, I am faced with a dilema, return the camera and hope they have some more left, call Canon or live with it.

It sounds like a software or firmware issue, I would return it and get another, and if you can't talk to a Canon rep about replacing it, or updating the software and firmware.

Or if you somehow got stuck with the camera, use a program such as iMovie, or Adobe Premiere, then resync the sound.
