Where can I find an A570 IS Repair or Assembly Manual?

I've tried all BrendaP's suggestions but nothing has fixed the Lens Error problem. It costs too much to send to Canon to repair so I'm left with trying to dis-assemble and fix it myself. I'd like to find the repair manual but I get "Account Suspended" going to the e18error site.

Try checking out this site:

They have more solutions to lens error problems. As far as a certified repair manual, I don't think Canon has released one. If these solutions don't work, feel free to reply back and we can try more things.

Thanks for the URL. This has been helpful, but I was hoping for Powershot 570IS dis-assembly instructions or photos. The pictures were for other, similar cameras but not mine in particular. If anyone has taken apart a 570IS I'd appreciate advice or suggestions

Frankly, I don't think it's worth it simply because hunting around in there can cause more trouble unless you're a trained camera repair technician. You may end up bricking your camera or breaking something while fixing something else. That and any warranty you may have left will be instantly voided.

I agree except I have no warranty left so it's either throw it away or try to fix it myself. Their repair estimate was half the cost of a new camera. In fact for less than their repair estimate I found a very nice Pentax with not quite the same features. Do I sound bitter? I probably won't buy a new Canon anytime soon.

Just start taking out the screws. What do you have too lose. I found many parts on eBay and there are many photos there that have the unit disassembled.

Well, then you have nothing to lose. Worst case, you put it up for sale on eBay.

BTW, the E18 site is up and running. Just checked. They have a page for fixing it yourself.

As a followup, last weekend I took apart the camera, gently cleaned as much as I could, reassembled it and now it's working again.
