I have problem with LCD and pink hue on images with Canon A 60 Digital Camera

The camera was OK till last two years, suddenly in the shoot mode a thick black line has appeared on the LCD, which does not appear in view mode. Another problem i notice is that the images come at times with a pinkish hue which spoils the shot. Please advice i have given my camera to a Cannon service centre today and am worried that they will put forth a huge bill to fix this problem.

It sounds like you've had your camera for quite some time. Dropping it, or other poor care of it, is a sure contributor to image-capturing problems.

It may also be your memory card. Have you tried taking pictures with a new memory card? And does the camera have fresh batteries?

If a new card doesn't solve the problem, I think you will find that purchasing a new camera will be less expensive than repairing your old one.

As far as output goes, you pinkish images can be saved. Most downloading or image editing programs allow you to change the color blanace. You should be able to easily removed the pinkish hue from your pictures. A photo kiosk at Target or Wal-Mart can also help you change the color balance.

Thanks Chryssa for your quick response but neither have i dropped it nor taken poor care of it. The batteries are new. I shall try changing the memory card.

Yesterday while scanning the net i noticed that cannon camera have shown CCD problems and the company is offering free repairs. Let me see if this is an inherent problem.

Thanks anyway for your mail.

Regards

Harish
