I put in new batteries but when I turn the camera on there is no image when I try to take a picture.

I can go back and look at previous pictures but can take anymore. the screen is black when i try to take a picture. I tried so many things that I don't know what I have or haven't tried.

Can you still hit the capture button and take a picture though you can't see anything through the screen? Also can you still see an image through the viewfinder of the camera? (If not the it is a lens problem). Try the first option and tell us what happens.

The camera clicks or flashes but no picture appears in the viewfinder or when you go to the replay mode.

It sounds like your LCD is just broken, which if its still under warranty send it back to Canon. I'll research a bit more and see if there could be any other problem.

I have exactly the same problem- the menus etc all come up on the screen, along with the Canon image, so it can't be the LCD, the camera clicks and flashes as if it were taking a photo, but there is no image on the screen, and the photo is blank- just black.
Unfortunaly this happened when my husband was being assessed for an exam and the assessor didn't realise the camera wasn't working, he took 24 blank photos! AAaaaarrrggghhh!!!!!!
