The shutter does on my canon a610 not close fully or open fully. Help??

The shutter when off seems to only be half closed and when open the small part of the shutter hovers as a shadow in every picture. I called around about repairing it and the cost of that is almost the price of the camera. Any suggestions??

Are you referring to the shutter or the lens cover assembly. Chances are it isn't covered under the warranty and as such, you already know that it's going to cost more to repair than it's worth. I suppose you could try removing the lens cover assembly very carefully. You've certainly got nothing to lose - but I wouldn't pay to have it repaired, just invest in a newer and more updated model.
