This camera has a shutter speed range of of 15 seconds to 1/2500 second. The average time between shots is 1.9 shots/sec with large or fine quality, which is standard. I would say that no the Canon A610 does not have shutter lag.

All digital cameras have shutter lag- this is because, unlike standard 35mm cameras, there is an electronic mechanism being worked and the camera needs a little time to focus on the subject of the photo before it can shoot. The answer is that yes, this camera has shutter lag, but it's not one of the worst offenders.

Even expensive DSLR cameras have shutter lag, although they have whittled it down to fractions of a second. You can reduce shutter lag by holding the button down halfway and allowing the camera to focus and frame, then pushing it the rest of the way when you're ready to take the actual shot.
