A610 will not power up and not a battery problem.

Been working fine since new 6 months ago. The very last time used was with the Pictbridge connection to a canon IP 5000 to print a photo (this was also the very first time I have used the Pictbridge feature) and since then the camera will not power up from the On/Off button. Batteries have been eliminated as the cause and the battery and card covers secure. Is it possible that some type of power surge from the printer has damaged the camera?

This is a common problem with the A610. Seems to require replacement of the camera internal electronics.

The A610 was going to be quite expensive to fix, Canon supplied me with a A530 as a replacement which to date is working fine. Thanks Tom seems you could be right.
