my A620 got some water on it at an amusement park and now the viewfinder on the back won't work. What can I do about it?

My camera got water on it during an amusement park ride. When I went to turn the camera on later, the viewing screen flashed once but is dark with no picture emerging. This is in either the picture taking mode or the viewing mode. Is there something I can do to fix the camera?

It's probably still got water in it. My suggestion is to stick it in a zip lock bag with a cup of uncooked rice (or, a bunch of those silicate packages from the camera box). The rice will act as a desiccant to draw water away from the electronics. After a few days it should be okay. If not, you're looking at a repair. But understand that the average cost of a camera repair is around $180. As such, it may cost more to repair than it is really worth. The rule of thumb is that if the estimate for repair is north of 50% what you paid for it, you're better off taking that money and buying a newer and upgraded model.

Thanks! Hopefully the desiccant idea will work. I love the camera - and would love to save it, if possible. I appreciate the reply.
