Is there a question here? It's pretty hard to get an SLR sized sensor into a compact point and shoot. The only company that I know that puts an SLR sensor in any kind of point and shoot is Sony, who puts their dSLR sensor from the Alpha line into their H series point and shoots. The bigger cameras by Canon, such as the G9 are getting close to having an SLR-like sensor, but still may be another release before one comes out. I'd wait for Photokina, which is happening this month to see if anythings coming out. Also, I hope you're not talking about a full framed sensor; in which case I doubt any Point and Shoot will have that for at least a long time.

I was :-) but im not an expert aand wasn't sure if the size was a problem with everything getting smaller, they put the same 12mp sensor in a canon camera half the size off the 650 so I was just wondering. If I got a SLR what would be the best mid range brand aa nikon or canon??

Well if you're looking for a full framed sensor, go with the Nikon D3, or wait for the new sequel to Canon's 5D. Currently, I like the Nikon D3 more than the Canon 5D, but the new Canon sequel to the 5D should give the D3 a run for its money. Also, take a look at the Sony Alpha A900, I've got it pre-ordered. It's a great camera, does pretty much everything the higher end Nikon and Canon's can do, plus its $2000 less than the competition.
