Canon Powershot A700 is a relatively new model. As such one would expect it to accept higher capacity memory cards commonly found in the market.

A check with Steeves Digicam Review shows this to be true. A700 can accept SD cards up to a maximum of 2 gig.

Thanx for the reply. While going thru the reviews on couple of other sites, I found a note that 2 GB or more capacity SD cards can not be formated while using in PowerShot A700? Is it true? If yes, then what happens when the card is full and need to shoot more. Can this card be used further? What are the basic parameters to be checked / considered while buying a 2GB card for this camera?

As stated in Steeves review , 2 gig card is the maximum capacity you can use in A700 and it is true that beyond 2gig, you may have compatibility problems.

While buying, the only feature to check is whether the card is a standard 2 gig or a high performance 2 gig card.

Standard 2 gig card is likely to be compatible in your case, while compatibility of high performance card like Sandisk Ultra II 2 gig card is not known.
