This can happen. Sadly 3 years is a long time for a digital camera to last. Have you checked the batteries, they may need to be replaced with new rechargeables. It could be worth getting it serviced but if the estimate for repair is over $100 it would be more adventagous to simply buy a new camera. Sorry but this is how technology seems to work.

Hey Di,
What exactly is it doing? Is it not powering up, is the screen not working, etc?

I have a similar problem. My camera is about 3 1/2 years old but has had little usage. I have a menu appear that I can't get rid of. I get a blank screen and when I take a picture it comes out black. Fresh batteries installed and pressing reset has not changed anything.

ok, in english now, sorry for the brain malfunction-

if the camera works (flash for exaple) but only black picture appear, this could be a problem that is fixed free of charge by canon

there seems to be a malfunction with the wiring in 36 diffrent models!
my canon repairer was really kind, and mentioned that if for any reason it is something else, they will check with me if I want a quote, so I don't have to pay for checking it for the CCD sensor.
