Maria,
You might try a camera with a Macro function. This will allow for sharper focus on your close up nature shots. I have used this function in Canon cameras and found it to work fantastically. You might try a Canon A710 IS. It has the macro function for close up shots, and it also has image stabilization, which will help reduce the effects of camera shake. Good luck and happy shooting.
