The shutter button and the zoom controls on my A710 IS are suddenly not working. Please help

I changed the batteries to a recharged pair. After that the camera turns on and I can switch between the shooting modes. But in none of the modes, can I take a pic or record a movie. I don't know if this is a hardware problem with the shutter and zoom control. Please advise.

Just because you have replaced the batteries doesn't mean the batteries are the correct ones. Make sure your using the recommended types and make certain that the mAh is high enough. At least 2500 mAh to power the camera properly. Also, try updating the firmware and clean your battery contacts with a pencil eraser.
