The time gap between after taking a photo is arround 10se after the 2 sec review of the snap just taken. Can some pls help?

After I have taken a photo on my canon as720is i get the 2 sec preview, but then it goes blank and keeps blinking for arround 10sec and only then i am able to take a new pic. I can remember if it this was there since i bought it. I have done a factory reset but still the same problem.

there are two possible cause of this:
1. If flash was fired, you need to wait until the flash fully charged again.
2. The camera does dark frame substraction. It means that the camera take a shot with closed shutter after the picture was taken and substract them from the taken picture. (It's a way to eliminate static ccd noise) So if you take a 10sec shot, the camera takes another 10sec shot after the shot.

I'm in agreement with Tom. Plus, it may seem like 10 seconds, but odds are, it's probably half that. Additionally, as the A720 uses AAs, you're probably having to wait as the batteries become fatigued. And more you use the camera, the longer it takes to recharge. You can get around this with stronger batteries. Batteries with an mAh of at least 2500 will enable the camera to perform better from shot to shot. But if you're reyling on alkalines. You're gonna spend more time waiting.
