The fastest way to find an answer is to go to a local camera store and ask help. Most of the sales people there are friendly and if the problem is really simple then they don't charge you any money. If your camera is really out of order then they can also give you an idea where and how you can fix it. But it has to be a camera store, not universal store like Walmart etc.

Same thing happened to my A-75 camera. In doing a search, sounds like there are more than a few problems with this camera model.

i have the same problem.. just won't power on. no power and not sure what is wrong. sometimes press the battery cover very hard and it will turn on. then sometimes not. i guess there is something wrong with the diode or fuse or the circuit..

If your A75 wont fire up, the power management accessory board could be defective. The power leads from the battery case are soldered wires. The other cause could be connection between the main flex circuit and the camera computer, or the connection between the card reader and the computer. Another thing I would check is the little micro switch that tells the camera the cf CARD DOOR is closed. If this is dislodged, the camera will think the door is open and not start up.

Have fun!!!!

I contacted Canon, and they said they wouldn't cover fixing the camera, but I could buy a new Canon with some kind of coupon. Why would I want a new crummy camera? I bought a new camera from one of their competitors. Its not worth trying to get a camera fixed when the repair rates are so high.

We have an A75 and it will not turn on unless the memory card is taken out. I have tried to see if there is something that is blocking the door, in refernce to glencurtiss's response on April 8th. How do we get ahold of canon? I have treied their site and nothing...

actually you may want to look inside the card slot and see if any pins are bent/touching - this was the issue w/ an A75 at work. The unit will not power on if the pins are touching.
