a pink line started appearing at the top

I bought a Canon A80 powershot camera couple of years back. It was good until few days back a pink line started appearing on the top of the photo. This line appears only after the photo is taken. I downloade it to my pc from the camera and found this pink line visible clearly.

Hmm sounds like your sensor is starting to go. If it is being recorded onto your images that means that it is being affected by the sensor that captures the image. I could be dirty or just going "bye bye" as they say. I would recommend getting the camera cleaned professionally or cleaning it yourself if you have the means and see if the problem still exists. It does not sound good though. Sadly 3 years is the life of a digital camera it seems. Might be time for an upgrade.

Good Luck!

This just started to happen on ours, too, including a yellow line. The LCD at the back shows it. Sometimes it appears on the pictures. It seems to happen more often when the battery is running low. I'm a professional photographer and this is our everyday pocket camera, we bought it 2.5 years ago for a vacation. Will take it in for repair and see what happens and repost. Thanks.

The problem was reported by Canon. They will fix it for free. There is a service notice (CCD Image Sensor Advisory).

Yes, thank you! I did send it to Canon, they paid for the shipping there and back, and repaired it. It came back in terrific shape. The entire experience was fast and professional. I was surprised at how easy it was to work with Canon support on this. Thank you to this board for your help.
