A95 - no photos with flash.

W/ flash setting off, all is fine but with the flash setting on, it won't lock in focus (the green boxes won't appear) nor does it take a picture. I tried new batt's, reset the settings to default and swapped CF cards, all to no avail. Any ideas on the problem? Thank you.

Theo,

A lot of times the camera's flash won't lock in very low light situations. Do you have the AF-assist beam on? You can turn it on in the Rec. Menu of your camera. When the AF-assist beam is on, you hold your shutter button half way down for it to help guage the distance, then push the button down the rest of the way. This should assist in your focusing.

Thank you for the suggestion, but it doesn't solve the problem. I've tried focusing both with AF-assist on and off and against a variety of backgrounds. It just won't lock in the focus when the flash setting is turned on.

Theo,

Sorry to hear that. I'd contact Canon's repair site as a next step.
