Does this camera have a quick response in taking pictures?

I just purchase the nikon p80 but I am really unhappy with how slow it is. It is slow to auto focus and really slow to taking pictures. I am going to return this camera and I am looking for another. I was wondering about the Canon Powershot G10....any info would be much appreciated.

According to these pros the shutter lag is "non existant" so it should have very fast response.
