Would like to know if G10 is made in Japan or China on base of camera...

Owning a G7 made in Japan, I wondered that as well. Several reviews state still made in Japan-thanks

According to Digital Camera Info. com, and a picture that they took, it is made in Japan.

If the OP asks the question in the manner " ...................made in Japan or China on base of camera ....." , he probably saw something on the base of Camera which he couldn't belief.

In this connection, it may be relevant to point out that Canon has a camera plant in China known as Canon Zhuhai Inc., and it is located in Guangdong province on the Chinese mainland not far from Hong Kong.

Taking S5 IS as an example, both the Japanese plant and the China plant at Zhuhai produce S5IS and this is printed in the base plate. see this forum
If the OP sees something on the base plate, which he did not tell us, it is possible that G10 could be produced both in Japan as well as in China.

Steven has confirmed a G10 produced in Japan. Has anybody come across any G10 made in China ?

Even my new SD990 IS is made in Japan. BTW, same chipset, same DIGIC4, VERY similar image quality, very minimal lag for a tiny point-and-shoot.

Hard to imagine Canon would suddenly change the manufacture location on their newest G series camera. The G's have all been made in Japan to my knowledge.
