The obvious question is, did you format the card? I'm figuring you did. Check for a firmware update at Canon's website, install it and reset. The reformat the card. If it still can't read it, you're looking at a repair. And it's probably going to cost more to repair than it's worth.

How large is the memory card that you have? This is a little bit older camera so it most likely won't read anything larger than 2GB. So if you have a 4GB card it probably won't work. My Dad has a semi-pro Fujifilm S2 Pro, and it can only use cards that are 2GB or smaller. We made the mistake of purchasing a larger one at first.
