Observations after owning G6 for a while
(Tom Harrison - 9/4/05)When I first got my G6. I was trying to make it be the same as the film SLR I have; the small digital doesn't hold a candle to an SLR, but there are a lot of things the G6 does that an SLR won't. I would say it's a good camera for someone who wants a smallish, portable camera, who wants to take snapshots as well as the occasional more serious shots, or as a backup for a SLR then this is a good choice.
But if you want almost all of the same capabilities as the G6 has, I frankly am not sure how the A95 is that much different — it has the same cool flip-out screen (although nearly impossible to see in bright sunlight), the same auto and manual modes and the A95 takes AA batteries.
My only other comment: the lens is slow (f2.8 at wide angle), so you really need ISO 400 to avoid using flash ... yet there's noticeable noise at ISO 400.
Bottom line: ok, but not worth the money.
