Astonishingly good performance: I bought it for my wife and use it myself

I bought this camera last Christmas because my wife wanted a digital camera. I still mostly shoot my Hasselblad and Nikons. I thought I hated digital cameras. I pulled out the G6 to create some quick images to test something in Photoshop and was shocked at the quality of the images.
I've found that there are two sorts of photographers: those who buy cameras to brag to their friends (but never show their terrible shots) and those of us who make great images and don't talk about specs. I'm the second type. I've decided that this camera is good enough to use for many purposes and I think that the images it creates are far superior to many film applications and most digital cameras that aren't in the $2K and up price range.
If you are a real photographer, its worth putting in your bag as a backup. If you want an excellent point and shoot camera, its so good its overkill.
