My First Choice

( - 11/23/04) I took some time doing research on the net before purchasing the Canon S1 iS. The main reason for getting it was the 10x optical zoom and the Canon Brand. I used a previous model from Canon and found it exceptional. Pros: The S1 IS takes excellent pictures in optical zoom mode. The 10x optical zoom is perfect since not many other cameras offer it at the price level of the S1 IS. Handling the camera is great and the dial settings are place where you can comfortable operate the camera while shooting. The menu options are easy to follow and the ability to store settings to different buttons shows the technology behind the design. Cons: The average resolution causes soft images. This camera would be untouchable with 5 mega pixels. The camera has a lag in focusing at full zoom, but the results are exceptional once the focus is achieved.
