focus problem

Basically I really like the camera. I have taken some great scenery pictures with it and some great close up and macro shots but at times my pictures come out blurry when the camera says they are in focus. Even using a flash. I think I have to start using more of the manual features but its frustrating when I want to take a quick shot on Auto and then it comes out blurry.

I like the size of the camera and have no problem with the position of the buttons but would like to have a larger LCD. I generally take pictures through the lens and use the screen only for reviewing but its a little small for my eyes and its hard to tell when the pictures are out of focus. Since we live on an island and go everywhere by boat I also love being able to close the screen. It would be nice to have an all-weather houseing for it.
