intermittent powerup

My Powershot S2 IS is about 18 months old. Recently, the camera has intermittently failed to turn on. I cannot find a pattern as to when it will work but once it does come on it seems to work unless I leave off for 8 to 12 hours. I have done the obvious - new batteries, new memory card, remove date/time battery with no luck. Thanks for any suggestions.

This sounds like an internal wiring issue with the camera. You have tried the basic trouble shooting steps with the batteries, so your next steps would be to get in touch with the Canon support team. Good luck.
