Anybody has a copy of the S2 IS service manual? Canon is giving me the run around so I am trying to fix it myself

You could try here. I do know that there are several online options, but they usually cost about $10-20 for a PDF download.

One thing, however, fooling with your camera may cause irreparable damage. But then again, it's no good to you now, is it?

JoeCDB,

You should go back to Canon again because faults in electronic parts and the circuits can only be detected with the use of proper instruments.

This is more so in this case where " black screen of death " is involved.

There is a thread on " black screen of death " of S2is which traced the cause to faulty LCD or stuck shutter
You may want to go through this thread and based on the experience of BarryMcBroom dated 30 March 2007, you might be able to get a free repair.
