Can a canon S2 IS be set to rapid shoot many frames.

I would like to be able to shoot more frames more quickly for sporting events. If the digital play back were turned off that would help. Is there a way set the camera to shoot more quickly?

So . . . ? Not asking about typical --Asking can camera be set to rapid shoot ? -- There is a continuous shoot button (high speed and regular) -- but that seems to do absolutely nothing -- would expect that to speed up shoot time or at least shut down the playback display

Not as fast as you want. In Burst mode, you'll get about 2 fps. That's going to be very frustrating for sports photography. For sports, you're far better off with a DSLR which will motor drive multiple shots in a burst.

Would like quicker, but I guess I'll have to settle for 2 fps -- (we're talking 10 yr olds playing lacrosse) But still, when set to burst mode or continuous shoot, as canon calls it, shouldn't the playback display be off ?--otherwise you don't get 2 fps.
