I'm getting a memory card error after pulling the SD Ultra II 2.0 GB card from camera into PC, deleting the images from card, and card back to camera.

Using SD Ultra II 2.0gb, pulling from cam to pc, working fine. I have a media package on my pc, which allows me to put the card right into a slot, (which it fits perfectly), and opens a window on my pc, where I can copy and paste the images to other parts of my hard drive. Then I delete the pics from the card, and then put the card back in the camera, and starting taking more pics. This has worked 3 or 4 times so far. This last time it all worked untilI put the card back into the camera, and it says Memory Card Error, and I can't get it fixed. Any advise?

The instructions for the camera suggest always deleting pictures through the camera's "delete all" feature in the menu. I suggest that you try putting the card in the camera again, and try to do a "quick format" through the menu.

Then be sure to delete only the the camera's menu, NOT in your PC.

have you tried using other memory card in your camera? just to make sure, the prob is not your camera memory card slot.. try cleaning your cam's memory card slot and your memory card as well? if it doesnt work, try formating your memory card in your computer since it can't be traced in your camera, quick format will do, if this works, next time delete your files using your camera, cause some memory cards are really sensitive,
if it still doesnt work, then maybe you should take your memory card to the shop.

I have had a recurring (a few months) similar problem since I got the camera. I had it a few days and the SD card was scrambled. They gave me a new SD card. Yesterday after 'Erasing all' the SD card was unreadable for mine and a friend's Canon camera. At home the card reader couldn't read the SD card. I read a few forums on the Internet and discovered that there is a problem with the S3IS in which it can corrupt the FAT file of your SD memory card. BTW: There is no formating menu item when the SD card is corrupt - not on my camera.

In short - Camera 'Erase All' initiated my problem. I am hopeful that Canon will assist me as I have been a loyal Canon customer because I thought they stood behind their products.

In my web search, I have been lucky because my problem was the 'erase all' - none of my pictures were affected. A few people had this occur with the images still on the SD card. If someone reading this has the same problem - there is a program to recover data from a memory card:
