Slave flash

I have a Speedlite 200E from another Canon camera. Can this be used as a slave flash for the S3 IS?

According to Canon the only two things the Speedlite 200E is not compatible with is the Canon A series cameras as well as the Canon EOS SLR models. Type A uses E-TTL, which is not supported by the Speedlite 200E, and I'm not really sure why its not supported by the EOS SLR models. But, according to Canon, it should be compatible with the S3 IS. Thanks so much! I just bought a Canon S3 IS and would like to use on this as a slave drive. I have a Canon Rebel X film camera that I was using it on. This will save on money adding the external flash.
