How do I set for higher dpi on my S3 IS?

I lost my owner's manual for this camera, so I need to get this basic answer. I'm finding my pictures are very low size when I put them on powerpoint. I need to increase the size of the pictures. How do I set the camera for that?

First thing I would do is reset the camera. This is a fairly easy procedure which involves either going into your setup menu and choosing "reset" (or intialize), holding down the menu key for 5 seconds, or, removing the batteries for a few minutes. It may be that the firmware loading got corrupted and the camera just needs to be "rebooted," which is something that turning it on/off won't accomplish. But after which, you should have the camera reset to factory default settings.

Another tip is to go to Canon's website and look for firmware updates. Download and install them.

Next, go into the settings menu and look for the quality/resolution menu. Set it for the highest possible. As for the manual, I'd contact Canon support and ask them to email you a PDF file of it. It should be online but Canon doesn't have it available through it's website at the moment.

As Steve Rindsberg, Microsoft MVP and co-creator of PPTools, puts it, " it is wrong, irrelevant and confusing to think about increasing dpi " for power point purposes.
see this page

The picture size in power point presentation is limited by the projector to 1026 x 768, not by your camera.
For more reading on this subject, you may log on to the above site as well as this page which, in fact asked you to re-size your picture for power point.

2. If you need to present good quality pictures on the screen, as taken by your camera, you should go for a slide presentation program like this one .
For goodness sake, leave your camera alone, there is nothing wrong with it, not with the dpi anyway.
