Hi,
Well, this isn't a widely reported problem and so Canon hasn't issued a recall. Since the S45 is a fairly old camera, I'm guessing you're far out of the one year limited warranty. This means that if you get the camera repaired by Canon it's probably going to cost you a whole lot to fix (plus shipping). You can try to get a quote for the repair from Canon here, but you might be better served by shopping the job around to local camera shops... see if you can cut a deal with one of them.
If not, it's probably time to upgrade, unfortunately. :[
