Good pictures but reliability bad

I use the S50 mostly for work in Bangladesh and have had to have the DC to DC converter go bad while under warranty and almost a year ago it started to act like it is doing the same thing. The battery warning comes on and then the camera shuts down after the voltage reaches 7.6 to 7.8 volts. All the labeling on the camera long ago disappeared. Sent the camera back for repair a year ago and Canon wanted $120 to look at it and the repair on top of that. Works good for if you don't use it a lot
