Canon S3 IS
(J. Yip - 3/4/08)I like this camera for its versatility, but the picture quality varies a lot under different shooting conditions. Numerous options are available and the P mode allows you to shoot with fill flash when the flashlight is lifted, this being useful for shooting people in sunlight or in low light. The M mode is also useful for flash photography indoors. I use 1/30 sec. and an F stop approx. = 60 divided by the subject distance in feet, at ISO100, the flash being set to full power. If F is going to be lower than 5, I increase the ISO instead, but limit it to ISO400, otherwise the pictures show grains. One has to experiment a lot so as to avoid getting grainy pictures. It is also very easy to get overexposed spots if the flash is used for nearby objects, under auto mode. The super-macro and hot shoe are great features.
