Can anyone tell me if the Canon SD 1000 is a better camera than the Sony DSC W55?

I am planning on buying a new digital camera and need help choosing between the Canon SD 1000 and the Sony DSC W55. If price is not an issue, which would you recommend?

The main things i care about are : Image and Video Quality, Durability (i've heard that the SD 1000 is prone to breaking very easily, not sure if this is true), Optical Zoom, and perhaps what other additional features the cameras have.

for comparison, you may want to check out this resource. It takes pictures with each and you can compare them side by side. They're about even side by side, but the SD1000 seems to look more natural indoors. The W55 has the edge with it's macro setting.

Finally, when trying to make a final call, it may just come down to what camera feels good in your hand. Go to a local camera store and check both out side by side, holding them, feeling their center of gravity, the balance. How it sits in your hand. That usually sells me one way or the other.

Well, if you want a camera which is more portable, more cool looking and other stuff, go for Sony. If you want a better image quality, feel and build quality, go for Canon. Simple.
If I were you, I would have baught the Canon.
