Don't buy it unless you want a cracked LCD!
( - 6/19/06)I was reasonably happy with my IXUS 40 for the first 2 months, although it suffers with purple fringing, like many other canon cameras.
After 10 weeks of very careful use with a canon case, the LCD cracked. No problem I thought, Canon will surely replace it. Infact, they couldn't care less and told me that they always assume it is the customers fault. I have owned many cameras and products with LCDs and never suffered any problems until now. Looking at the web I am absolutely disgusted by the number of similar instances. I have wasted the price of the LCD screen in pointless calls to canon's customer service. I already own a canon G6 and an A95 and considered a 350D, but after my experiences I will never ever buy another canon product as if you have problems you are on your own!
In summary could have been an excellent camera, but let down by bad screen problems and Canon's couldn't care less attitude.
