This camera needs to be recalled and fast!
( - 6/19/06)We purchased this camera 15 months ago and absolutely loved it until yesterday. We even recommended our friend buy one a month ago. My husband had it in his shirt pocket, used it a couple of times, and went to use it again and the LCD screen was toast. We did not drop this camera, knock it or do anything whatsoever to damage it. This seems to be an ongoing problem with this particular camera and I would suggest that Canon needs to recall it because it is patently faulty. We are now pretty ticked off. We paid over $500 for this camera just 15 months ago. That is a lot of money and had we known that there is obviously a problem with the LCD screen we would not have bought this camera. Has anyone who has reviewed this page of complaints managed to get their camera fixed by Canon without being dinged? Has anyone managed to get Canon to admit they have a flawed product. I am annoyed that some people suggest our cameras are breaking because of our neglect. I know 100% that we did nothing whatsoever to our camera to cause the screen to fail. This is without a doubt a manufacturer's defect. Now we have a delimma. Do we cough up $150 plus to have this camera fixed only to have the same problem again, or do we chalk this one up to experience and not buy Canon products again? Does anyone have any suggestions out there? If so, please respond to me at markandbernie@shaw.ca
