Cracked LCD Display Best Buy warranty

The camera belongs to my 16 year old daughter. It was her 16th b-day present. We have the 4 year extended warranty from Best Buy. My daughter says she does not remember any trauma to camera. She keeps it in her purse. Best Buy would not even take camera for repair outside the warranty just to get it fixed. I called Canon. They would not covered it if they looked at it and determined the LCD crack is from "mishandling". I was going to purchase the LCD and replace myself for $49 assuming they would come to same conclusion as Best Buy. But after reading all the reviews on cracked displays especially the kid glove handling, I wonder if it does not take much to crack one or self destruct. Class action? referring to another review. I am going to send to Canon with all these reviews to see if they will fix at no cost. Everyone with this problem please report.
